German Cakes

German cakes are as essential to Germans as coffee. One of my favorite times in Germany is afternoon Kaffee und Kuchen time, translating to coffee and cake. We try to still follow this tradition on Sundays, slowing down a bit in the afternoon with some of my favorites like the chocolatey Marmorkuchen, the easiest German apple cake or the iconic Schwarzwälder Kirschtorte (Black Forest cake).
